Spain 100 Pesetas 1925 P69c Philip II Fine

These blue 100 peseta notes dated 1925 were printed in England by the security printers Bradbury Wilkinson. They are beautifully engraved with the portrait of Philip II on the front and a view of the Escorial, the resting place of the Kings of Spain, at the centre. On the back is a detail of a painting of La Silla de Felipe II a craggy vantage point from where Philip II is supposed to have watched the construction of The Escorial. (P69)Although these notes are dated in the 1920s they were actually released into circulation during the Republic of the 1930s. Available in Fine and Good VF condition.

These 5000 roubles were issued in 1919 in Southern Russia (PS419) After the Russian Revolution in 1917, many areas issued their own notes. South Russia was under the command of General Denikin and the notes were issued by the High Command of the Armed Forces. They’re quite large (9” x 4”) On one side, we find a double-headed eagle and the head of Mercury. On the back, St George stands with a shield and cityscape behind.
